Flaka Haliti’s (*1982, Prishtina, lives and works in Munich) works are delicate, almost invisible interventions, with an apparent lightness that transforms into poignant emotionality. Fathoming out on the meaning of democracy, borders, freedom and mobility constitute core themes in her practice. By weaving her images through poetic gestures she escapes intransigent images, which in turn enables the viewer to read between the lines by being provided with space for personal projection. The personal plays the leading role in Haliti’s works. Establishing an intimate atmosphere constitutes the backdrop for addressing broader social issues without having to make direct statements. It is hence the personal that constitutes the subject of the political in her work.
